Introducing Charkha: Where Tradition Meets Fashion

Our Story

Charkha Life is a celebration of thoughtful fashion—where tradition meets purpose, and every thread tells a story.

Founded by two childhood friends, Khushboo and Pinky, the brand was born from a shared dream: to bring the richness of Indian handloom to women around the world, while uplifting the communities that create it.

Khushboo, a mother and former homemaker from India, is admired for her timeless style and deep knowledge of fabrics. She designs many of our pieces herself, combining comfort, beauty, and cultural heritage. With a strong social presence and love for community, she partners with village artisans—especially women from underprivileged backgrounds—to preserve traditional crafts and create meaningful work.

Pinky Gupta, based in Seattle, brings a diverse background as a journalist, program manager, and nonprofit events manager. Originally from Kolkata, she has worked with both premium clients and underserved communities, especially women facing economic challenges. Her passion for style and storytelling inspired her to bring the richness of Indian handloom and sustainable fabrics like Khadi to the Western world—offering clothing that’s not only beautiful, but deeply meaningful.

Together, they created Charkha Life—a brand built on slow fashion, empowerment, and self-expression. Each piece is made with care, designed for modern living, and rooted in heritage.

When you wear Charkha Life, you support women, artisans, and a movement that values culture, comfort, and community.

Let’s spin the wheel of change—together.

Our Purpose

At Charkha Life, our purpose is to celebrate Indian handloom by creating fashion that empowers and inspires. We design clothing that blends tradition with modern style while supporting rural artisans, especially women, through sustainable livelihoods. Each piece reflects our commitment to conscious fashion, cultural connection, and self-expression. With every thread, Charkha Life weaves heritage into the everyday.

Doing It the Right Way, Always !

We're more than just clothes – we're a movement for conscious fashion. We create on-trend styles that fuel your self-expression, but we do it with a commitment to ethical practices and environmental responsibility. We source our materials responsibly and share every step of our production journey with you, because transparency is key. Join our community of like-minded individuals who believe fashion can be empowering and ethical. Together, let's look good, feel good, and do good for the planet.

Sustainability

At Charkha Life, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We choose natural, breathable fabrics like cotton and khadi, sourced responsibly and crafted with care by skilled artisans. Our slow fashion approach means fewer, more meaningful pieces—designed to last, not follow trends. By supporting local communities and reducing waste, we aim to create fashion that feels good and does good—for you, for the artisans, and for the planet.

Our Promise to You

Every item you buy supports sustainable practices and local craftspeople, from the farmers who grow our cotton to the artisans who bring our designs to life. Together, we’re making conscious fashion a reality for everyone.

Thank you for choosing CharkhaLife and being part of our journey. Let’s wear our values, celebrate our roots, and create a world we’re proud to pass on to future generations.
